Every Roofing Shingle has a fabric pressed into the shingle, making the nailing easier, bonding faster, it gives higher wind resistance to the roofing shingles as well. With just 4 nails per roofing shingle you can get 110 mph wind warranty, 6 nails per roofing shingle gives you 130 mph wind warranty.  GAF is one of the first companies that embraced the concept about not just installing the roofing shingles but the roofing system. With installation of at least 4 GAF accessories, the company offers extended warranty coverage and there is a big chance that GAF company is going to stand behind it's warranty promise. GAF company is one of the oldest companies with about 130 years in business, their roofing shingles are tested by time. Once the company figured out what works, they just run with it. Not that much of innovation is going on with GAF Timberline roofing shingles, but sometimes too many changes in the composition of the roofing shingle makes it less tested by time and the chance of something going wrong increases.
