How To Choose The Right Basement Window

Sometimes we do not pay close attention to our small basement windows. They are close to the ground in the foundation and seem not worthy of too much care and money expenses, but on the other hand, these little windows play an important part of our overall house utility. So when you finally noticed these little guys sitting there and decided to take care about them, the question pops up  what kind of basement window should you go with? Well there are several types of basement windows: the hopper window, the picture window and the slider window. It all depends what kind of basement you have. 

    If you have daylight finished basement, you might want to go with a hopper or slider window, because you would like to open these windows to refresh the room. If your basement is not finished and you have two basement windows or more, then you can do a slider and a picture window, or a hopper and slider. In this case you can do whatever you want and have no regret about it.​

The Hopper Basement  Window 

This type of basement window tilts inside and has a strong frame around it with a plain glass. You can go with this window,  when  you need to open the window to refresh the basement or when you need to put a hose through the window to water your  garden. Hopper windows are wide, but not very tall. When you close this window it is weather tight and  energy efficient. 

The Picture Basement  Window

When you haven't finished your basement or you have it as a laundry room, you can go with picture window. This type of the window has a stationary glass with a vinyl frame around it. When you install picture window into your basement, keep in mind that you are not going to be able to open it. This type of the window comes with an option of obscure glass for enhanced privacy, that is very helpful when your basement windows are facing the busy street. Picture windows are more energy efficient, because they don't have any moving parts.

The Slider Basement  Window

This type of the basement window comes in handy, when you need to take out some of the staff from the basement or put something into the basement. Slider Basement window has both sashes moving to the left or to the right side, so you can open it to refresh the room, put water hose through the window or remove both sashes for the moving purposes. Slider window when is locked provides tight locking system and energy efficiency as well.
